CALWild - Merced River Signage Report
Source: California Wilderness Coalition
With a grant from the River Network, CalWild - statewide organization dedicated solely to protecting and restoring the wild places and native biodiversity of California's public lands - was recently able to complete a community needs assessment along the Merced Wild and Scenic River corridor (State Route 140) looking at the need for improved interpretative signage.
The report, published in April 2022, specifically focuses on how to provide non-English signage for the Latinx and Asian communities that are frequent users of this Yosemite gateway, as well as the resources needed to implement such a project.
As a stakeholder, the Upper Merced River Watershed Council has expressed interest in collaborating on this project and is in active conversation with CALWild planners.
